In the 2009 Budget, the Chancellor announced a £100m fund for new council house building. However, this will only provide 900 new homes - not many when there are over 1.6m families on the council house waiting list.
The Council Housing Group of MPs has published the first papers of their report Council Housing: Time to Invest. The report includes new evidence, research and recommendations which decisively make the case for council housing. The MPs Group invite comments, further research and evidence to support the case for ‘fair funding, investment and building council housing’ - please send your contributions to (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
The LRC has recently made a donation to Defend Council Housing in memoriam of Alan Walter.
