Government attempt to buy off rebels killed off by Campaign Group

John McDonnell MP, Chair of the Socialist Campaign Group of Labour MPs, said:

“No deal. The Government's offer is comprised of a limited number of concessions none of which address the real concern of a significant hard core of opponents.

“These proposals introduce a system of trusts, private companies, backdoor selection, and a free for all education system based upon survival of the fittest. Undermining the role of local authorities in this way will see comprehensive education replaced by the law of the jungle.”
