MPs call for Obscene City Xmas Bonuses to be Taxed

Labour MPs express disappointment at Chancellor's Statement and call for excess profits tax on City to fund NHS Deficit.

With the NHS facing a huge funding crisis of a £620 million deficit there was strong support on the Labour backbenches for the introduction of a windfall tax on the profits being made by big firms in the City and the obscene level of Xmas bonuses they pay themselves every year.

John McDonnell MP said

“It is very disappointing that there appears to be no more money to resolve the NHS deficit mountain. The Chancellor should have gone further and could easily have done so by introducing an excess profits tax on the obscene profits and Xmas bonuses these city fat cats are making.

“Why should the workers be forced to accept a tight cap on their pay rises, while these city wide boys are allowed to cream off as much as they like?

“Without urgent action by the Chancellor it may be Xmas for the city slickers but it could be a disastrous winter for the sick and elderly in our community.”
