Scottish Labour Left promotes a Radical Third Term
The Scottish Labour Left, The Campaign for Socialism, (CfS) supports the call by the Labour Representation Committee for a manifesto that will win the support of Scottish working people.
Based upon policies agreed at the Labour Party and Scottish Labour Conferences the CfS is calling for these six pledges to be adopted in Scotland:
End the Occupation of Iraq
Secure and enhance further employment rights
Say no to Student Fees and and increase levels of student support
Increase significantly the basic state pension
End the privatisation of public services and restore public ownership of the railways
End the sell-off of Council Housing
Elaine Smith MSP Convener of CfS said:
“Those of us who have stuck to the task of winning the Labour Party to a more radical agenda are beginning, at last, to see some results. There is now a yawning gap between the New Labour Leadership and Labour Party.
The leadership supports foundation hospitals, the Party doesn't. The leadership supports top up fees, the party doesn't. The Leadership wants to keep the railways in private hands, the party doesn't. The leadership wants to take housing out of Council ownership, the Party doesn't. We need to build a real political alternative right across Britain.”
