Saturday 13th February 2010
11:45am to 4:00pm
at London South Bank University, London Road, Elephant and Castle, London, SE1
The Convention has a number of aims
• To promote discussion about the need for radical democratic change under the general ideas of republicanism, as part of the struggle for socialism
• To promote greater understanding of the national dimension (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales) in socialist politics
• To bring all sections of the left into such a dialogue in a non-sectarian way
• To connect this with the forthcoming general election as one of the forums to launch/promote the broad left’s election campaigning.
Session One: the crisis of democracy and a republican programme
Session Two: Republican socialism and national question
Session Three: Republican socialism and the general election
This event is supported by the LRC.
