(Organisation) and the Labour Representation Committee (LRC)
This (Organisation / Branch / Region) welcomes the founding of the Labour Representation Committee (LRC)
at a Conference in London on Saturday 3 July 2004 attended by 400 Labour Party and trade union members.
The LRC is a new organisation of Labour Party and trade union members committed to the election of a
Labour Government and the implementation of a fundamental and irreversible shift in the balance of wealth
and power in favour of the working class and the promotion of internationalism, peace and equality.
The LRC intends to organise Conferences and policy debates across England, Scotland and Wales in order
to bring together socialists within the Labour Party and wherever possible to recruit socialists to the Party.
At its launch Conference the LRC issued a discussion document, "Target Labour Government" with proposals for
radical and progressive policies for a Labour Government. The proposals in this discussion document were very
largely consistent with (Organisation) policy.
We believe that the LRC offers an opportunity for (Organisation) members to become involved in the practical
work which needs to be done in order to reclaim the Labour Party for Labour and trade union principles and policies.
This will be consistent with the initiative taken by the "big four" trade union General Secretaries to secure a
radical and progressive manifesto for Labour’s third term.
We therefore resolve;
To affiliate to the LRC and send a supporting donation of £_____.
To circulate the LRC discussion document "Target Labour Government" to
our members and to participate in the discussion about socialist policies
for a Labour Government;
To invite a speaker from the LRC to a future meeting as part of this debate
and discussion;
To send a copy of this resolution to the (Regional/National Committee) and
to request that consideration be given to the ways in which joint working with
the LRC can be facilitated. We specifically recommend that (Organisation)
approach the LRC to discuss joint sponsorship, perhaps with other Unions,
of Regional discussions of Labour Party and trade union policy and organisation
over the next few months.
